11+ Preparation in Dubai

It is an on-screen, adaptive assessment in four parts: English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Many UK senior schools use it. Your child sits it once, usually in Year 6 or Year 7. The result then goes to every school you apply to. Adaptive means the questions get harder or easier as your child works. Most schools then add their own written papers and an interview for the children they shortlist.

Many UK senior and boarding schools use it as a first-stage filter. The exact list changes from year to year. Some Dubai families sit it alongside applications to local senior schools, which set their own papers instead. Requirements and deadlines differ by school, so check each one directly. Little and often beats cramming. Most families begin in Year 4 or Year 5. That leaves time to build reasoning familiarity, reading habits and arithmetic fluency without a rush. Starting in Year 6 is still worth doing. We begin with a diagnostic assessment, then go first at the areas where marks come back quickest.

Yes, and it is often where children gain fastest. Schools rarely teach reasoning the way they teach Maths and English. Most children meet it cold. Familiarity is the whole game here. Once a child knows the common question types, they work faster and stay calmer. Those types are analogies, codes, letter sequences, matrices, rotations and odd-one-out.

We run formal Maths and English classes Monday to Friday. We recommend both subjects, because each one feeds the other. On Saturdays we also run a dedicated 11+ session from 4pm to 6pm. It combines targeted reasoning practice, timed papers and formal teaching.

We strongly recommend it. The Common Pre-Test weights all four parts, and the two subjects feed each other. Wide reading builds verbal reasoning. Careful reading of a question is where most Maths marks go astray. If your timetable makes both impossible, the diagnostic assessment tells us which subject needs the time more.

Yes. We mark everything and give written feedback. You always know where your child stands and what comes next. A page of wrong answers your child never revisits teaches nothing. Volume without feedback tends to embed errors rather than fix them.

Yes. We add the clock in stages, so your child builds exam stamina without a shock. That includes practice in the adaptive, on-screen format the Common Pre-Test uses. A child who has only worked at their own pace can find the timing hard. Ability alone does not carry them through. We also work through individual schools' past papers where they publish them.

Classes cap at six students, and most 11+ groups run with two or three. That lets us teach reasoning technique to each child rather than at the room. We also offer one-to-one 11+ tutoring for children who prefer it, or who need to catch up quickly.

We teach 11+ preparation through our standard Maths and English classes. Session rates start from AED 200, at our published Primary and Lower Secondary prices. A one-time enrolment fee of AED 300 applies when you join, and covers assessment and onboarding. We quote package and multi-subject rates at the assessment. They do different jobs. CAT4 is a cognitive abilities test, used by most Dubai private schools for setting and benchmarking. UKiset is a separate online test that some UK schools ask international applicants to sit. The 13+ Common Entrance comes later, in Year 8, for entry at 13. The ISEB Common Pre-Test sits at 11+. Most families applying to UK senior schools meet it first. The English, Maths and reasoning skills we teach carry across all four.
