ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
7+ Entrance Prep
Ages 5-7 | Prep School Admissions
Preparation for 7+ entrance assessments, usually sat in Year 2 or early Year 3. We cover the written papers — reading, comprehension, writing and mental maths — alongside the early reasoning and interview skills these assessments look for.
At this age, preparation should feel like good teaching rather than exam drilling. Short, regular sessions build confidence far more reliably than intensive cramming.

How we teach 7+ Entrance Prep
Diagnostic Assessment First
Every child begins with a diagnostic assessment, so we know their starting level and teach to it from the first lesson rather than pitching at a guess.
Small Group Excellence
A maximum of six students per class ensures personalized attention and focused practice on individual strengths.
All Work Marked
Every piece of work is marked with feedback. The value is in seeing the mistake, understanding why, and trying again — not in volume for its own sake.
Interview Coaching
Role-play scenarios, communication skills, and confidence-building for both students and parents ahead of assessment day.
How Parents Can Support 7+ Preparation
Read together every day — it underpins almost everything the 7+ tests
Keep sessions short and regular rather than long and occasional
Go back over the questions that were wrong before moving on to new ones
Practise number bonds and tables in short bursts
Keep preparation calm and positive — at this age, confidence is the biggest variable
