FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about English at Improve ME

About This Stage

What does KS2 English cover?

Our KS2 English programme covers reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and spelling across Years 3 to 6. We follow our structured EngLit programme aligned to the KS2 curriculum.

Is KS2 English relevant for students at IB, American, or CBSE schools?

Yes. The core literacy skills developed at KS2 — extended writing, analytical reading, vocabulary — are required across all major curricula. Our programmes build these transferable skills regardless of your child's school framework.

Our Sessions

How many students are in a KS2 English session?

A maximum of four students per tutor, with an average of two. Sessions remain small enough for every child to receive genuine individual attention.

How often should my child attend?

Most KS2 students attend one to two sessions per week. Students in Upper KS2 preparing for secondary school transitions or entrance assessments often benefit from two sessions per week.

Subjects & Curriculum

Will KS2 English help my child prepare for secondary school?

Yes — this is one of the primary goals of our Upper KS2 programme. We focus on building the independent analytical writing and reading comprehension skills that secondary school demands from day one.

Do you help with 11+ English preparation?

KS2 sessions build the foundational skills that underpin entrance assessments. If your child is specifically preparing for 7+ or 11+ selective school entry, we also offer a dedicated Entrance Preparation programme — ask about this at your free Diagnostic Test.

Progress & Results

How do you track progress at KS2?

Progress is tracked every session and parents receive regular written updates. At KS2 we also provide termly progress reviews so you always have a clear picture of where your child stands.

Getting Started

My child is in Year 6 — is it too late to start?

Not at all. Year 6 is actually one of the most impactful times to start. Securing strong foundations before secondary school begins makes the transition significantly smoother.
