IGCSE English Language Tutoring in Dubai

For the majority of students at international schools across Dubai, IGCSE English Language is the English qualification they will sit. Edexcel International IGCSE is the most widely used board across Dubai's international school landscape, and it is the qualification we prepare the most students for. We also support Cambridge International (CAIE) students. If your child attends a school following the IGCSE pathway and you want targeted, exam-focused support, this is the right page.

OVERVIEW

What the IGCSE English Language Exam Tests

IGCSE English Language is entirely skills-based. There are no set texts to memorise and no content knowledge to recall. The exam assesses your child's ability to read and respond to unseen material, and to produce writing that is clear, controlled, and purposeful. For Edexcel IGCSE specifically, the questions where students most commonly underperform are Questions 4 and 5 in Paper 1. These are the higher-tariff writing questions — and they are where focused preparation makes the most measurable difference. Grades are awarded on the A*–G scale, which differs from the 9–1 system used in GCSE. For students targeting strong UK or international university offers, the benchmark is typically an A or A*.

TEACHING APPROACH

Teaching Approach

01

Text Analysis & Skill Work

Sessions open with 10–15 minutes of text analysis or targeted skill work — breaking down how writers use language and structure, and connecting those choices to mark scheme criteria.

02

Timed Writing Every Session

The remaining 45 minutes are given to a timed writing task. Feedback is immediate. Students leave each session knowing specifically what they did well and where marks were lost.

03

Individual Review

Because our English groups have a maximum of six students, your child's written work is reviewed individually every session — not collected and returned a week later.
