GCSE Mathematics

Master GCSE Mathematics from Foundation to Higher with structured support for number, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics. We build exam technique and past-paper confidence for Grades 7–9.

OVERVIEW

What is GCSE Mathematics?

GCSE Mathematics is a core qualification that builds from number and algebra through to geometry, trigonometry, and statistics. Students are assessed across three written papers (one non-calculator, two calculator), with Foundation tier covering Grades 1–5 and Higher tier Grades 4–9. At Improve ME, our programme maps every topic to the AQA, Edexcel, and OCR specifications, with structured past-paper practice, method marks focus, and exam technique that targets Grades 7–9.

Foundation Tier

Grades 1–5. Focus on essential mathematical skills, number work, basic algebra, geometry, and statistics.

  • Core arithmetic and fluency
  • Introduction to algebra
  • Geometry and measurement basics

Higher Tier

Grades 4–9. Advanced topics including challenging algebra, trigonometry, and multi-step problem-solving.

  • Algebraic reasoning and equations
  • Trigonometry and circle theorems
  • Higher-grade exam technique

Consider GCSE Further Mathematics

High-achieving students (grade 8–9 target) should consider GCSE Further Mathematics alongside regular GCSE Maths.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment Structure

Students sit three written papers (one non-calculator, two calculator). We build technique, timing, and confidence with structured past-paper practice for Grades 7–9.

Paper 1
Non-Calculator
  • 1 hour 30 minutes, 80 marks
  • Number, algebra, ratio, geometry, probability
  • Method and accuracy; no calculator allowed
Paper 2
Calculator
  • 1 hour 30 minutes, 80 marks
  • Full specification coverage
  • Problem-solving and multi-step questions
Paper 3
Calculator
  • 1 hour 30 minutes, 80 marks
  • Mixed topic coverage
  • Structured past-paper practice builds confidence

Grade boundaries vary by year and exam board. We focus on maximising marks through method, accuracy, and smart exam strategy.
