Curriculum & Assessment
GL Assessments and teacher assessment at the end of KS1
At the end of Year 2, children in England (and many British curriculum schools in Dubai) are assessed in Reading, Mathematics, and sometimes Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling. These are often referred to as GL Assessments and year-group progress checks. Results are usually based on a combination of tests and teacher assessment.
At Improve ME, we don't teach to the test alone — we build solid understanding and confidence so that when assessment time comes, your child is prepared. We can also offer targeted practice and familiarisation with the format so children know what to expect.
What Parents Say About Key Stage 1
"My son was behind in reading at the start of Year 1. The phonics support at Improve ME was fantastic. He's now reading confidently and actually enjoys books."
Parent, Year 2 student
"We wanted to give our daughter a head start before the GL Assessments. The one teacher to two students ratio and clear structure made a real difference. She felt ready and did well."
Parent, Year 2 student
"The tutors really understand how young children learn. Our child looks forward to sessions and we've seen a clear improvement in both maths and English."
