EYFS English
Help your child build a love of reading and writing from the very start. Our EYFS English programme develops phonics, handwriting, comprehension, and early creative writing through personalised sessions designed for ages 3–5.
What is EYFS English?
In the EYFS framework, English falls under the Literacy area of learning. Literacy has two core dimensions: reading (word reading and comprehension) and writing (transcription and composition). Reading begins with phonics and builds towards blending sounds into words and understanding simple stories. Writing starts with letter formation and develops into spelling simple words and writing short sentences. At Improve ME, our EngLit programme aligns with the EYFS framework while extending your child's learning — introducing reading schemes, creative writing, and spelling skills that prepare them for Year 1.

How We Teach It
Personalised Sessions
Each session adapts to your child's reading level and pace. Your child's tutor identifies which letter sounds they know, where they need support, and builds from there.
Phonics-Led Approach
We follow the Jolly Phonics programme, teaching letter sounds systematically so your child can blend sounds into words and begin reading independently.
Structured Reading
From picture comprehension at age 3 to decodable stories and the Oxford Reading Series at age 4–5, your child progresses through carefully graded reading materials.
Building Confidence
When your child reads their first word, writes their first sentence, or earns their first EngLit certificate, those moments build a lifelong love of literacy.
