Supporting Home-Educated Students in Dubai — Every Subject, Every Age

Home education in Dubai is more common than most people realise — and more demanding than most people anticipate. Whether your child is educated at home full-time, following a period between schools, or pursuing a qualification pathway as a private candidate, the academic foundation they build now will shape every opportunity available to them later.

Improve ME Institute has been supporting students in Dubai since 2010. We work with home-educated students across all ages and all curricula — not as a replacement for a parent's teaching, but as the structured academic complement to it.

What We Offer Home-Educated Students

We cover all core subjects taught at Improve ME — Mathematics, English, Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), Business Studies, and Economics— for students from EYFS through to A-Level and IB Diploma. Home-educated students attend the same small-group sessions as all our students, sitting alongside peers and working through structured programmes that match their level and qualification pathway.

For families following a specific curriculum — British, IB, American, CBSE, or another framework — we align our teaching directly to that curriculum. If your child is working towards IGCSEs or A-Levels as a private candidate, we build their programme around the specific boards and examination schedule you have registered for.

Flexible Scheduling Around Your Timetable

One of the significant advantages of home education is control over time. Our sessions run throughout the day — mornings, afternoons, and evenings — so home-educated students can attend during hours that would not be available to school-based students. We work with families to build a weekly schedule that fits naturally around the rest of your child's education, rather than fragmenting it.

Qualification Pathways for Home-Educated Students

Home-educated students in Dubai can still sit internationally recognised qualifications through private candidate registration. The most common routes our students take:

  • IGCSE: Available through Cambridge CAIE and Edexcel International. Recognised globally and widely accepted for university entry. No school registration required — students register as private candidates through an approved examination centre.
  • A-Level and International A-Level (IAL): Available through AQA, Edexcel, and Cambridge. Modular IAL options offer particular flexibility for students managing their own timetable.
  • IB Diploma: Requires enrolment through an IB World School — this is not a private candidate qualification. We can advise on which Dubai schools accept external students for IB enrolment.

We do not register students for examinations — that is a family responsibility. We prepare students to excel in whichever pathway they have chosen. A verified online school must be attended in order to receive yearly grade and year advancement.

The Group Learning Advantage

One of the most consistent pieces of feedback we receive from home-educated families is the value of small-group learning. Their child understands the academic content — what they gain from Improve ME is the experience of working through problems alongside other students: hearing different approaches, being challenged by peers, and developing the kind of collaborative thinking that examinations and universities both reward.

Our groups run to a maximum of six students, with an average of two to three. Home-educated students are encouraged to be placed in morning sessions where they are in a smaller class setting. This can cater to the needs of students who may need extra support, especially in cases where students are moving into a new curriculum in Dubai.

Progress Reporting for Parent-Educators

We recognise that parents who home-educate carry a layer of responsibility that school parents do not — they need to know not just that their child is improving, but specifically where, by how much, and what comes next.

Every home-educated student at Improve ME receives structured progress reports covering performance by topic, areas for development, and recommendations for the following term. Our tutors are available for direct communication throughout the term. You will never have to chase us for an update.

Where to Start

The first step is a free assessment. We will identify exactly where your child is working, which subjects need structured support, and how to build a programme that fits your educational approach.

Home-educated students are welcome at every level — from a three-year-old beginning phonics to an eighteen-year-old preparing for their final examinations.
